Silky microfoam for flat whites, lattes and cappuccinos, with dairy and plant milks.

From your first heart to tulips and rosettas, through to advanced pours for working baristas.

Dialling in

Setting up your grinder and espresso machine each day, at home or on a commercial bar.

Filter & brew methods

Pour-over, batch brew and more. Recipes, ratios and brewing filter coffee you'll actually enjoy.

Tasting & cupping

How origin, process and roast show up in the cup, and how to describe what you taste.

Workflow & speed

Bar layout, milk and shot timing, and keeping quality up through a rush.

Cleaning & maintenance

Daily and weekly machine and grinder cleaning to keep coffee tasting right and kit running.

Lee, barista trainer and owner of EspressBros speciality coffee house in Ashford, Kent
Your barista trainer

Meet Lee

15+ years behind the bar. Lee has spent his whole working life in coffee, from pulling shots on busy café bars to opening EspressBros in Ashford and building our own coffee brand.

That means you're learning from someone who does this every day: the recipes we dial in each morning, the workflow that gets us through a Saturday rush, and the small habits that turn a decent coffee into a great one.

No jargon for the sake of it. Just hands-on, practical barista training you can take straight back to your kitchen or your bar.

Good questions

Barista training FAQs

How much does barista training cost?

Every session is tailored, so we price it once we know what you're after. Send us an enquiry with your experience level, what you want to learn and how many people, and we'll come back with a price.

Do I need any experience?

No. Our home barista sessions start from complete beginner, and we pitch every session to where you're at, whether you've never touched an espresso machine or you're chasing a better rosetta.

Where does the barista training take place?

Home barista sessions run on our commercial espresso bar at 10–12 Middle Row, Ashford, Kent TN24 8SQ. Commercial training can run at EspressBros or on-site at your café, restaurant or hotel anywhere in Kent, on your own machine.

How long is a barista course?

It depends on what you want to cover. A focused latte art or home machine session is shorter than full new-staff training for a team. Tell us your goals and we'll recommend the right length when we reply.

When do the sessions run?

Home sessions run outside opening hours, in the afternoon after 2pm or in the evening, so you get the bar to yourself. Commercial training is arranged around your business.

Can I learn latte art?

Yes. Milk texturing and latte art are among our most requested topics, from your first heart through tulips and rosettas, up to advanced latte art for working baristas.

Can you train my whole café team?

Yes. We train new starters, whole café teams and staff at restaurants, hotels, pubs and offices, at our bar or on-site across Kent. We can also help new coffee businesses with setup and menu.

Will barista training help me get a job as a barista?

Our career-focused course is built for exactly that: espresso, milk, workflow and speed on a real commercial bar, with a certificate of completion from EspressBros to show employers.

Do you give a certificate?

Commercial and career-focused barista courses include a certificate of completion from EspressBros.

Can I buy barista training as a gift?

Yes. Barista experience gift vouchers are available and make a great present for coffee lovers. Choose "Gift voucher" on the home barista enquiry form and we'll sort it.

Can you help me with my own coffee machine at home?

Yes. Tell us what machine and grinder you use and we'll cover dialling in, grind size, dose and ratios so you can repeat it at home.

Do you offer barista training near Canterbury, Maidstone or Folkestone?

Yes. We're in Ashford town centre, a short drive from Canterbury, Folkestone, Maidstone, Tenterden and Hythe, and a few minutes' walk from Ashford International. For businesses we'll come to you anywhere in Kent.
